Ski Fun in Palandöken

 Palandöken-Erzurum Palandöken, which has become a winter holiday center carrying the international standards, is located on the south of Erzurum, Palandöken Mountains with a summit of 3 thousand 185 meters and it is one of the liveliest places in the recent years with the customer potential it has.

Tracks

The tracks in Palandöken Ski Center are among the longest and steepest tracks of the world. The track of Palandöken with a length of 3126 meters is a track which has the highest altitude in Turkey. The total lengths of the tracks are 28 km and the longest track is 12 km. Ski area is located on a height zone of 2200-3176. The height difference between the starting location and the destination point is 1000 meters. There are 2 registered track (Ejder and Kapıkaya) for the competitions of Slalom and Giant Slalom.

There are in total 22 tracks in Palandöken ski center. The ski center is the most appropriate place for the experienced skiers with its steep and long tracks. In the tracks of Ejder and Kapıkaya, “Slalom and Giant Slalom competitions” are organized. The natural tracks which are not crushed in the ski center also render the region an attractive place for snowboarders. In order to reach these tracks, you should use the T-bar lifts or chairlifts 

Season

Palandöken, the ski season starts in the month of October and continues until the end of the month of May. Palandöken is covered with snow in 180 days of the year and the snow fall reaches 2-3 meters in the seasonal normals. Due to the continental climate, skiing is done on powder snow throughout the season.  

Transportation

There are daily flights from Ankara and İstanbul to Erzurum. The Ski Center is 5 km. away from Erzurum City Center and approximately 20 minutes to the airport. During winter, the transportation from the city center to the ski center is ensured with the public buses.

General Information

While going to this region, do not forget that Erzurum has a harsh continental climate. Be prepared for the faults in the flights in cases of severe weather conditions. There are four and five-star accommodation facilities, ski lodges, one-day facilities and restaurants. You may receive skiing courses and rent skiing equipments. We recommend you to visit Erzurum known as the pearl of the East and eat the famous “çağ” kebap as you go to Palandöken.
